Shabbat at Temple Shir Shalom

At Temple Shir Shalom, music is at the heart of all of our services and an integral part of our worship experience. Each family and their children are encouraged to take an active role.

Our services are held most Friday nights 7:30pm at University Carillon United Methodist Church (in the EPICenter). Services are led by Cantorial Leader Beth Schafer. An Oneg Shabbat follows the service.

There is usually a Saturday morning Torah service every month in conjunction with a B'nai Mitzvah or conducted by the B'nai Mitzvah class. Check our calendar for an updated service schedule.

Prospective members and guests are always welcome at Shabbat services, including interfaith families. For the most up-to-date service schedule, please call or check the calendar on the Temple website.

Our services have a variety of flavors (sometimes the pattern is interrupted for special events):
The first Friday is our Family-Style shabbat which includes a story, youth participation and special blessing of the children
The second Friday is our Shabbat Experience which could include drumming, dancing, guest musicians and all sorts of delights of the senses.
The third Friday is a Shabbat of Study & Special Blessings including a sermon or interactive study, melodies from different eras of Reform worship and a more mature prayer experience. We also include monthly blesings for birthdays, anniversaries and new members.

All services conclude with an oneg shabbat and begin with lots of kibbitzing, a musical transition from the weekday to shabbat and a feel-good that can't be gotten anywhere else in Orlando. Fellowship and spiritual awakening abound at Temple Shir Shalom!
