The "Flavor" of Worship at Temple Shir Shalom

When asked what the three most important objectives are in leading a service, Beth Schafer, cantorial leader answers:

  • To Inspire
  • To connect the congregation to God
  • To connect the congregation to one another

That's it. What you'll find when worshipping at Temple Shir Shalom is that people come, and they come regularly. They come because it is the congregational culture to help fill another's spiritual tank once their's is full. People come because the culture is friendly and unpretentious and the services are inclusive. They come because the music sets a standard above what is expected. Many say it feels like a concert except with substance and interactivity. Many say that this is the first time their Judaism has become "real" to them. They come because Beth believes that praying both in good times and hard times should leave you feeling fulfilled and strengthened.
