Many in our Temple Shir Shalom family know a friend who has, know a relative who has, or have directly been affected by breast cancer. As part of its dedication to community, Temple Shir Shalom's Social Action Committee has created a team to walk in the Susan G. Koman Race for the cure, taking place at Bright House Stadium (UCF) on Sunday, October 17th. There are several opportunities for you to participate!
In order to promote our team "SHIR PINK" we are getting together to create pink tie dye t-shirts displaying our Temple and team name. This evening of tie dye, wine and pizza will take place on Sunday, September 12th at 6pm. All you need to bring is the white tee shirt(s) or polo(s) you’d like to dye and $5 for pizza and supplies (dye, bands, instructions, iron-on letters etc...). Feel free to bring shirts to dye for other family members or friends who plan to walk on the SHIR PINK team (and look great doing so)! Please contact Jennifer Hall for location information and to RSVP by September 8th. The tye dye night is for Adults only.
If you would like to participate in the breast cancer walk at UCF, please follow these directions to register for the event:
- Go to http://komencentralflorida.org.
- From the drop down menu near the top of the page, select "Komen Race for the Cure" and then "Register".
- Click on "Join a Team" from the grey buttons to the right of the page.
- Enter "Shir Pink" in the team name search field and click on "Search for a Team".
- When the team search results are returned, click on the link to "Join" team Shir Pink.
- Complete the registration process with your information.
Anyone can walk with us (friends, family, neighbors, etc.)! The more the merrier and the more we collect for breast cancer research! Details regarding where and what time we will meet are forthcoming!
If you are interested in supporting us but not interested in participating in the walk we are ecstatic with that, as well. You can log in to the website above to make a donation to our team or give a donation to either Jennifer Hall or Judy Procell.
