The objective of our B'nei Mitzvah program is to encourage and educate the next generation of Jewish adults who will thoughtfully continue our traditions and become engaged in Jewish life within our temple and throughout the community. Our program is based on words from Pirkei Avot: "On three things the world stands, Torah, Worship and doing deeds of lovingkindness." We expect our children to learn the rubricks of prayer and how to lead our core prayers, how to chant and teach Torah and how to apply their knowledge lovingly in the community through mitzvot.
Fourteen months out from a child's 13th birthday, through the education team and in coordination with Beth, a date is set. The first appointment with Beth is scheduled for one year out from the Bar/Bat Mitzvah date and materials are given to the student and a course of study is mapped for the year.
Our community is proud of it's B'nei Mitzvah and they are proud to have gone through our program as is evidenced by their continued service attendance, working in our religious school, participating on high holy days and attending our community Beit Hamidrash.
